Frank Lacy at Garcia's

I got a chance to perform with this musical genius at the old Garcias joint

Here at Garcias with Darryl Taylor and Carl Adams (drummer not seen Hawk Adams)

Here is a rather dated photo of Garcia with his daughter Amelia Milburn (maiden name)

It was about this time that I met Frank Lacy. Whenever he came to town he would run with Robert Phelps sharing music and what was going on in New York including his collaborations with Lester Bowie and Joe Bowie.  He sent our first copy of The Voyage which I butchered at (especially the bridge)first until mastering it - by Kenny Baron. Paul English was very fond of this tune reading it cold at his first sight. I later featured it as a Gazz tune having been given permission verbally from Kenny Baron himself

He always played trumpet as I recall.  Here he is with others including Benny Golson, Curtis Fuller, Freddie Hubbard, Jacky Mcclean ,  playing trombone. He did not have his name mentioned on Along Came Betty.
